How to carry out a fit check with PressToCheck™ filters

Ensuring your Force®8 or Force®10 mask is properly sealed before entering hazardous environments

In addition to initial fit testing—which checks whether a specific model and size of respirator can achieve a good seal on a wearer—users of tight-fitting respiratory protective equipment (RPE) must perform a fit check every time they put on their mask.

A fit check ensures that the mask is correctly fitted and adjusted each time it is worn, confirming that it is properly sealed to the user's face and offering effective protection.

PressToCheck™ filters make it easy to perform a reliable seal check on Force®8 half masks and Force®10 full face masks before entering any hazardous environment. The simple check helps users verify that the mask is stable and correctly sealed, with no air leakage.

How to perform a PressToCheck™ fit check:

FIT IT – Don the mask
Place the head straps and harness over your head. Adjust the straps to achieve a snug but comfortable fit.

PRESS IT – PressToCheck™
Firmly press the fronts and backs of both filter covers together to prevent air from entering through the filters.

CHECK IT – Inhale
Inhale deeply. No air should pass through the mask.
While continuing to breathe in, move your head:

  1. Up
  2. Down
  3. Left
  4. Right

PressToCheck™ filters are designed to work seamlessly with JSP’s Force®8 and Force®10 masks, which are available in a variety of sizes to help ensure the best possible fit for every user.

Key points:

  • Fit testing is done once; fit checks must be done every time the mask is worn.
  • A fit check confirms the mask is properly sealed for effective protection.
  • PressToCheck™ filters simplify the fit check process on Force®8 and Force®10 masks.
  • The fit check involves pressing the filters and inhaling to detect any leaks.
  • Move your head in all directions during the check to confirm the seal is maintained.
