What do the markings on my JSP safety helmet mean?

JSP safety helmets are manufactured under both the ISO9001 Quality Management System (QMS) and the British Standard Institution’s (BSI) Kitemark™ scheme. They not only comply with but significantly exceed all relevant international performance standards. See below for a guide to the markings found on your JSP safety helmet.

  1. Design Registered

The design registered mark prevents others from using the design without permission and also indicates that the helmet is genuine.

  1. Conformity Stamp
    1. CE Mark
The CE Mark is a mandatory marking for all PPE in Europe. The mark demonstrates that the safety helmet meets all requirements of the European PPE Regulator.
    2. Standards
Standards define the minimum performance requirements of the safety helmet within the territory of origin. Some models will have these continued in the panel on the right.
    3. Dagger
The Dagger is JSP Ltd’s internationally recognised symbol. This has been a trusted symbol of JSP’s quality for over 40 years.
  2. Date Clock

This documents when the helmet was manufactured. The outer circle of numbers represents the month of manufacture highlighted by the arrow, whilst the middle two numbers highlight the year of manufacture.

  1. Product Model Name
  2. The model and type of JSP industrial safety helmet.
    1. UKCA Mark
The UKCA Mark is a mandatory marking for all PPE in the UK. The mark demonstrates that the safety helmet meets all requirements of the UK PPE Regulator.
    2. JSP Logo
The JSP logo is a registered trademark of JSP Ltd. It indicates the helmet is genuine and passes all relevant standards.
  3. The BSI Kitemark™

The BSI Kitemark™ evidences that the British Standard Institution independently audit JSP’s QMS and regularly surveillance-test our products. This ensures strict material selection, manufacturing control and batch testing for all of our safety helmets.

Unique Manufacturing Code

The manufacturing barcode found on your JSP Mk Evolution® safety helmet is unique. The barcode can be used to access extensive product information. This includes details such as the materials used, machine settings, associated batch control, testing results as well as the location, time and date of manufacture.

Model Stamp

The model stamp can be found embossed on the underside of the helmet peak and clearly identifies which Mk Evolution® helmet model it is. In this example the helmet is a JSP Mk3 Evolution® or EVO3®.

The JSP logo is a registered trademark of JSP Ltd. It indicates the helmet is genuine and passes all relevant standards. Have any more head protection questions? Take a look at our head protection faq! Find out more about our head protection range Take a look at our new head protection guide
