Everyone on site needs safe and suitable head protection. Here’s how to fit a helmet with long hair.
Making sure helmets fit properly is crucial. The harness absorbs impact energy. For the right level of protection, it must be adjusted to fit the wearer’s head with the nape strap (at the rear of the helmet) positioned correctly.
Our helmets are designed to enable a secure fit for everyone. When our R&D team design PPE, it is important to provide suitable and comfortable protection for all workers.
JSP helmets feature an adjustable suspension harness that allows long hair to be worn comfortably in a low ponytail. The ponytail fits between the shell and harness, ensuring the nape strap can be tightened to a firm fit.

If your helmet includes a 4-point chinstrap, position the ponytail between the rear webbing and adjust the strap to fit securely.

All JSP helmets feature a 3D-Adjustment™ system with three harness depth settings, adjusting the harness height inside the shell to allow for thick hair and braids.

Adjusting the size is easy. Intuitive slip and wheel ratchet options enable one-handed adjustment. The new Revolution® Flex harness is made with a flexible wheel ratchet pad and extra deep nape strap to cradle the head, offering a closer, more secure fit at a lower adjustment setting.

When wearing helmet-mounted hearing protection, make sure hair does not sit underneath the ear defender cushion. Ear defenders seal around the cushion area to offer attenuation. A break in the seal can allow noise to leak in and reduce protection. Find out how ear defender fit affects protection.
